Tank in Nyamotambe elementary school

At Auara, we are working to combat the greatest form of poverty there is: the lack of clean drinking water.

CONTEXT

In Kenya, COVID-19 infections have had devastating consequences. Poor hygiene and water shortages can have devastating effects on one of the world’s weakest healthcare systems, leaving millions of patients suffering from other diseases—such as tuberculosis, HIV, malaria, or malnutrition—without care.

OBJECTIVES

Installation of a water tank in Nyamotambe elementary school (Kenya) for the prevention of COVID-19 and improvement of hygiene habits.

MILESTONES

The school's 530 students (250 girls and 280 boys) and 8 teachers now have access to stored water, most of which comes from rainwater.
