The Revelation

It all started far from here

In communities where turning on a faucet is an impossible dream. During volunteer trips to Ethiopia and Peru, we came face-to-face with a harsh reality: poverty is, fundamentally, a lack of water. We saw hospitals without clean drinking water and children who couldn’t go to school because they had to walk miles carrying water jugs.

We returned to Spain with one goal in mind: to end thirst. But we didn’t want to start yet another NGO that relied on one-time donations; we wanted to create a self-sustaining force for change.

The Beginning

That is how AUARA was founded in 2016

We decided to turn an everyday act, like drinking water, into something extraordinary.

We took the bold step of becoming the first social enterprise in Spain to be certified by Social Enterprise Mark, committing to allocate 100% of our profits to providing clean drinking water to those who lack it.

TODAY, MILLIONS OF LITERS LATER, WE CONTINUE TO PROVE THAT A COMPANY CAN BE PROFITABLE AND, AT THE SAME TIME, CHANGE THE WORLD.

2015

Home

After witnessing extreme poverty firsthand, Antonio Espinosa de los Monteros, Pablo Urbano, and Luis de Sande decided that charity alone was not enough. They needed to take action.

2016

The Launch

The AUARA brand is born. In September 2016, we launched the first water bottle in Europe made from 100% recycled, 100% recyclable material (rPET).

2017–2020

Growth

We surpassed one million euros in revenue and funded our first 50 projects in various countries across Africa, Asia, and Central America.

2022

The Alliance

We have joined the Hijos de Rivera (Estrella Galicia) family to amplify our impact and reach more communities, while keeping our social mission intact.

TODAY

The Results

More than 170,000 people now have access to clean water, sanitation, or agriculture... And this is just the beginning.
