Churo Tangulbei EP tank

At Auara, we are working to combat the greatest form of poverty there is: the lack of clean drinking water.

CONTEXT

The community of Tangulbei, where Churo PD is located, is heavily affected by drought, tribal fighting and female genital mutilation (FGM). In the months of August and December (FGM time) Pokot girls flee their homes with their clothes on, sometimes even persecuted, to take refuge in KIRIRA's schools, where it is essential that they have water for consumption and personal hygiene.

OBJECTIVES

The project consists of the purchase and installation of a tank with a capacity of 10,000 litres and the piping for the collection of rainwater and its storage. Prior to the installation of the water tank, the parents will supply the sand needed to build a solid concrete base on which the water tank will be installed. Thanks to the installation of the water tank in the Churo Primary school, the quality of life of the students is improved since they have water without having to transport it themselves first.

MILESTONES

This project will ensure that 526 people have access to drinking water.
