Background
Safe water is a scarce commodity, despite being a region where water is not scarce, much of the population uses unsafe water from rivers or springs of stagnant water. The most common ways to obtain safe water are wells or conditioning of natural water springs. For a large part of the population, it is difficult and very expensive to have these infrastructures in their homes or villages, so that sometimes the nearest safe water point is several kilometers away, which encourages them to drink unsafe water from rivers and unconditioned springs.
Objectives
In the village of Adjap Millton, there is a water well with a hand pump of the Indian Markt II type in, which is currently out of order, so an assessment of the damage and repair of the well is proposed. The water points are located in a Community Preschool Center, which ensures that the students and teachers of the center will use these infrastructures. Moreover, all inhabitants can equally benefit, as there is no other safe water point.
Milestones
This project has resulted in 53 people having access to drinking water to date.
