Construction of new restrooms and showers at Los Zafiros School

At Auara, we are working to combat the greatest form of poverty there is: the lack of clean drinking water.

CONTEXT

The economic situation in Madagascar is very worrying, with 75% of households and 82% of children living below the poverty line, which leads to child labor.

It is the fourth poorest country in Africa in terms of access to water. Specifically, 64% of the population has no access to drinking water and only 15% has access to sanitation and latrines in their homes.

OBJECTIVES

To provide decent and quality services to our students through the construction of new bathrooms and showers that will allow our beneficiaries to have access to running water and improve their hygiene and therefore their health and quality of life.

MILESTONES

The beneficiaries of the project are:
- 700 students from schools in the Zafiros district
- 60 young girls at risk of sexual and labor exploitation and living in extreme poverty who are staying with foster families but attend our school and will be able to use the restrooms and showers.
