Roka latrines

Background

The region of Roka is located in Battambang, one of the most punished provinces in Cambodia by the mines
Landmines. Its population depends on subsistence agriculture and suffers from water-related diseases, such as cholera or parasites, due to the lack of water and sanitation infrastructures.

Objectives

1) Health and hygieneIt is key to ensuring that sick beneficiaries have low exposure to disease, as their condition makes them more vulnerable. By providing them with sanitary and hygienic services, we are reducing the risk of beneficiaries contracting diseases is significantly reduced.
2) Education: Many of the children affected by HIV/AIDS in the Roka Community have dropped out of school. We expect at least 50% of them to continue their studies.
3) Women: Because of the lack of sanitation in their homes, women in Roka face a much higher risk of sexual assault. Thanks to the latrines we hope to prevent sexual abuse in the beneficiary families by providing them with a latrine.
4) Economic: With the construction of the latrines, it is expected that the economy will be activated by hiring personnel from the affected area to build them.
