Water treatment plant in Huasao, Peru

At Auara, we are working to combat the greatest form of poverty there is: the lack of clean drinking water.

CONTEXT

The community of Huasao is located in the Andean region of Cuzco. It lacks the necessary water resources to meet agricultural and human consumption needs.

Among the main problems concerning the deficiency of water for human consumption in the community are:

  • Appearance of diarrheal infections due to improperly treated water.
  • Water scarcity and inadequate monitoring of water quality for human consumption.
  • Limited access to potable water.

OBJECTIVES

Water treatment through the construction of a water treatment plant. The project to supply water to the treatment plant is currently underway.

The central problem is the limited access to drinking water by the indigenous population in the rural community of Huasao, due to the lack of a water treatment plant in the constructed system, which is mainly due to the limited capacity and absence of the State to improve water and sanitation services.
