A water supply system in Dzaleka, Malawi

Background

The Dzaleka refugee camp, founded in 1994, is 202 hectares in size and houses about 45,000 people who fled the war and genocide in the Great Lakes region. To this day, Dzaleka continues to receive an average of 400 people per month. The 4,747 students in the only school have a single well that supplies water to the three points available at the school.

Objectives

The project aims to increase the number of water points through the installation of a 5,000-liter tank that is filled by a solar-powered pump. In addition, the water points will have taps to facilitate their use.
