A well and a reservoir at a school in Sare Alen, the Gambia


Antecendents

The village of Sare Alen, Siarar area, in Central River Province is a disadvantaged area, with poverty and few
means. They have total water shortages which causes food shortages. The children have to move between 5 and 10 km
walking to school, 45-50 degrees.
Thanks to the wells, the population has access to safe drinking water, improving their health, hygiene habits and safety
food.

Objectives

Construction of a well and a reservoir in the school yard. After the manual drilling of the well, the solar pump is installed, each powered by 6 solar panels. The water is
stored in 5,000 litre capacity tanks.
The total number of children benefiting is about 500.

Milestones

This project will ensure that 500 people have access to clean water.
