Tharaka School Tank

At Auara, we are working to combat the greatest form of poverty there is: the lack of clean drinking water.

CONTEXT

The priority of this campaign is the educational field and it is complemented by actions in other sectors such as health or infrastructure, being the case of this project to provide the school with a water tank that has improved the living and sanitary conditions of the girls and boys who attend these schools. We have chosen this school because it is a model of good management on the part of its directors and it is in especially poor areas with a very young student body, most of whom are in the first years of primary school.

OBJECTIVES

A reservoir has been built, providing a supply of stored water, most of which is rainwater.

In addition, during dry spells, a water truck has been hired to refill the water tank if rainfall has been insufficient.

MILESTONES

This project has achieved that today 105 people have access to drinking water.
