Meyos Obam well rehabilitation, Cameroon

Background

Safe water is a scarce commodity, despite being a region where water is not scarce, much of the population uses unsafe water from rivers or springs of stagnant water. The most common ways to obtain safe water are wells or conditioning of natural water springs. For a large part of the population, it is difficult and very expensive to have these infrastructures in their homes or villages, so that sometimes the nearest safe water point is several kilometers away, which encourages them to drink unsafe water from rivers and unconditioned springs.

Objectives

In the village of Meyos Obam, there is a water well with hand pump type Indian Markt II in, which is currently broken, so it is proposed an assessment of the failure and repair of the same. The water points are located in a Community Preschool, which ensures that the students and teachers of the center will use such infrastructure. In addition, all the inhabitants can also benefit, as there is no other safe water point.

Milestones

As of today, 109 people have access to drinking water through this project.
