Rehabilitation well Indundilanga, Tanzania

Background

In Tanzania, the health system is underfunded by the state, with private donations accounting for 48% of funding. Consequently, staff, drugs and medical supplies are scarce mainly in primary health care centres and maternity wards. The Indundilanga dispensary has serious problems with its water supply, as the system provided by the municipality is constantly being cut off and broken. In addition, they have a rope well that does not have enough water in the dry seasons.

Objectives

Provide water permanently and safely to the health center of Indundilanga through the reform of an existing well, the installation of a submersible pump that connects to a tank where water is stored. In this way, the health center can have water available at any time improving the quality of health care as well as the hygiene of the center and patients. The centre treats an average of 1,000 people per month.

Milestones

This project has ensured that, to date, 1,000 people have access to drinking water.
