Rehabilitation of Well I in Sur Madagascar - GREENTECH


Background

Madagascar is in a critical situation, 1.5 million people are
of people are suffering from a serious food crisis. The severe drought that the southern region of Madagascar has been experiencing for 40 years has worsened in the last year, wiping out almost all the crops in the area. For four consecutive years now, each drought has been worse than the last. Last October's growing season saw 50% less rainfall than usual.

As a result, less than half of what is needed to feed the entire population is expected to be harvested in the coming months.

Objectives

The project aims at the construction of a well in the
Ambinany region in order to ensure the supply of drinking water to a population where more than 50% is underage and severely affected by water-borne diseases.

Milestones

In addition to the construction of the well to alleviate drought-related problems, the project contributes to the integral development of the communities through access to water, training and awareness of water use and management.
