Purifier at St. Ignatius High School & St. Ignatius Church, India


Background

At St. Ignatius School the last four months there were a significant number of absences among the school's students due to colds, coughs and diarrhea. During this period, the number of children who became sick at the school was
alarmingly high. Many children are prone to waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, typhoid, jaundice, dysentery, etc. With regard to this high incidence of disease, parents and teachers were suspicious of the water from the school well from the beginning. It was concluded that the main cause of the disease was due to the supply of unprotected drinking water.

Objectives

In the first phase of the project, a room will be built for the installation and protection of the purification plant and water supply points.
In the second phase, the purchase of the purifier and its installation will be carried out. At the same time, the construction of the
water supply (taps).
Reverse osmosis is a water purification technology by which a high percentage of dissolved and undissolved contaminants are retained (up to 99% retention of dissolved salts).

Milestones

This project will provide 455 people with access to drinking water.
