Tahen Community Well

At Auara, we are working to combat the greatest form of poverty there is: the lack of clean drinking water.

CONTEXT

In this community, where about 150 people live together, one of the main sources of food is rice.

There is one harvest each year, which is not enough to meet the population's needs.

With access to water to keep the rice paddies irrigated during the dry season, a second harvest could be grown to feed the population.

OBJECTIVES

The construction of a well in the community of Tahen is providing water to the community center, allowing any villager to go there to collect water, but perhaps the greatest benefit for the people of Tahen is being able to use the water from the well to irrigate their crops, since the droughts of the past three years have prevented the use of water for growing rice, the village’s main source of food.

MILESTONES

Thanks to this project, 150 people now have access to clean drinking water.
