Southern Sudan faces a severe humanitarian crisis caused by three years of civil war. In February 2017, famine - the highest alert level - was declared in several areas of the country, which means that people are already starving. To these must be added the almost 5 million more who face extreme hunger.
The main concern is to provide access to safe drinking water to the most vulnerable population.
