Construction and drilling of a well in Tamil Nadu

Background

The situation in the province of Tamil Nadu is very delicate. After several years with very few monsoons and in some areas non-existent, the Indian authorities have been forced to send trains with water to the area to make up for the shortage of water in the area.

Rural populations and slums that have proliferated in different Indian cities as a result of rural-urban migration processes are the most affected by water shortages.

Objectives

The drilling of a well in Crawford Slum - E. Pudhur Kollamgulam in St. James parish will provide drinking water to about 2,500 people.

The participation of the beneficiary population is essential for the proper execution of the project, as well as for its subsequent maintenance since they themselves are in charge of monitoring the works, in addition to being trained in the maintenance of the wells.

Milestones

This project will provide 2,500 people with access to drinking water.
