Well in Nazareth, St. Joseph's Home for Boys, Tamil Nadu

Background

Factors such as high levels of pollution, overexploitation of resources or industrialization, combined with technical restrictions and non-enforcement of laws, have led to the production of large amounts of waste and pollution that seriously affect water quality. Erratic rainfall, poor monsoons, depletion of aquifer potential due to over-exploitation, have resulted in many public wells providing less water during the monsoon season and no water at all during the summer.

Objectives

A well has been built to provide drinking water to the Nazareth, St. Joseph's Home for Boys center in the southeastern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, which has been seriously affected by drought in recent years. The project also includes the training of students and the population in general in health, hygiene, sanitation, health risks, preventive measures, waterborne diseases, etc.

Milestones

As of today, 65 people have access to drinking water through this project.
