Well in Poussouloute

Background

The project takes place in Poussouloute, in a rural context, where the main livelihood is a precarious agricultural economy and where families live in a regime of extreme survival.

Due to the lack of resources, it is often impossible for them to live from one harvest to the next, so they have to resort to rural exodus and the sale of their daughters to intermediaries.

Girls are taken to work in the cities in semi-slavery.

Objectives

Thanks to the collaboration with Alaine Foundation, an NGO focused on water and sanitation in Benin, we will build a well that will benefit 750 people in Bougou Commune, about 8 km from the asphalt.

This new well will supply drinking water to the population, reducing infant mortality, preventing diseases and reducing school absenteeism.
