Expansion of Bougou orchard

Background

There is an African proverb that says "If women lower their arms, the sky would fall". The Alaine Foundation knows that achieving the development of a people, of a collective, is a very difficult task, but it is aware that it would be impossible without the collaboration of women.

Ensure that women (mothers) have a decent job that allows them to improve their economies. The gardens not only provide decent work for women, but above all they offer the possibility of good nutrition for the whole family, reinforcing the precarious health of the most vulnerable.

Objectives

In Bougou, since 2012, some 80 women have been working in vegetable gardens. The aim of the project is to increase these gardens so that they can provide more work and food for the women.

In order to expand the orchard, it is necessary to increase the water supply. In order to get more water, a borehole must be drilled.

Once the flow has been increased, the works for the distribution of water in the new orchard area must be carried out.

Milestones

This project succeeded in increasing the number of vegetable gardens so that they could provide work and food for a total of 150 women.
